What will you find in this FREE printable rainbow worksheets for kindergarten and grade 1?
- five printable pages,
- two pages with traceable colors,
- one page with traceable words rain, bow and rainbow,
- one coloring page with rainbow, each,
- one page with find hidden words – rainbow colors.
These worksheets include tracing exercises for words related to the rainbow, such as “rainbow,” “rain,” “bow,” and the different colors of the rainbow. Your child will trace each word, and then practice writing it on the provided line. The words are written in block letters and in a large font to make tracing easier. However, if your child is just starting to learn how to write letters, it may be beneficial to use traceable alphabet worksheets instead.
The next two pages of these worksheets are designed to be fun and engaging for children. One page features a simple coloring activity where kids can color the sky and various parts of the rainbow. The final page features a printable word search activity where kids can search for and find all the colors of the rainbow. This page is specially designed to be easy for children and to encourage them to participate in this type of activity.

What is a Rainbow?
“A rainbow is a meteorological phenomenon that is caused by reflection, refraction and dispersion of light in water droplets resulting in a spectrum of light appearing in the sky. It takes the form of a multicolored circular arc” Wikipedia.
My kids have a fascination with rainbows. They always get excited every time they see one, reminding me of my own childhood when I would eagerly search for them after a rainstorm. Living in the Seattle area, we have plenty of opportunities to spot rainbows with all the rain we get. Springtime brings even more excitement in my home as my kids sing their “Red, orange, yellow, green blue, purple” song every time they search for a rainbow. This inspiration led me to create these worksheets for my son who is currently practicing his reading skills. I used a big font and block lettering to make it easy for him to trace and write the words. We’ll see how he does with them tomorrow.
