What is a Rainbow?

“A rainbow is a meteorological phenomenon that is caused by reflection, refraction and dispersion of light in water droplets resulting in a spectrum of light appearing in the sky. It takes the form of a multicolored circular arc” Wikipedia.

My kids have a fascination with rainbows. They always get excited every time they see one, reminding me of my own childhood when I would eagerly search for them after a rainstorm. Living in the Seattle area, we have plenty of opportunities to spot rainbows with all the rain we get. Springtime brings even more excitement in my home as my kids sing their “Red, orange, yellow, green blue, purple” song every time they search for a rainbow. This inspiration led me to create these worksheets for my son who is currently practicing his reading skills. I used a big font and block lettering to make it easy for him to trace and write the words. We’ll see how he does with them tomorrow.
